On Friday 17th June, Councillor Simon Geraghty, Leader of Worcestershire County Council and Councillor Anthony Blagg, Deputy Leader of Worcestershire County Council visited our new extra care development on the former British Sugar site (Silverwoods) in Kidderminster.
Along with Elaine Carolan, Lead Commissioner for Learning Disabilities and Older People at Worcestershire County Council, the Leader and Deputy Leader took part in a celebratory photo at Hampton Mews with staff members of Advance (the care providers at Hampton Mews), the Chair of Wyre Forest Community Housing, staff from The Community Housing Group and two of Hampton’s residents.
Councillor Geraghty spoke at length with resident Josh Horton, who expressed how much he enjoyed living in the 12 bedroom complex, specially designed to help adults with learning disabilities to live independently.
After enjoying a delicious buffet lunch in Hampton Mews’ brightly decorated communal room, the group had a short tour around one of the spacious apartments, before moving on next door to visit the show apartment at Berrington Court, 100 self-contained one and two bedroom apartments for people aged 55 and over, due to be completed at the end of October 2016.
Members of the County Council were amazed at the new development and were very complimentary.
