Oakleaf dig deep to help local school children

Oakleaf tree planting at Borrington RoadOn Friday 18th November 2011 Oakleaf Grounds Services (part of The Community Housing Group) took part in a tree planting event organised by Offmore and Comberton Action Group (OCAG).

OCAG received 420 native species of trees from the Woodland Trust, including a sapling that was grown from a seed collected from one of the royal household estates.

Pupils from King Charles Lower School Eco Group joined Oakleaf at Borrington Road park and play area, Kidderminster to plant the trees for the first stage of what will become a long term eco project.

As part of the project, Wyre Forest District Council’s Ranger Service will clear out the brook and put up fencing to allow a herd of cattle to graze on part of the land that suffers with invasive plant species. The site will then be managed by both the Rangers and the Eco Group.

The project is now part of the curriculum for the King Charles' pupils, and the Year 10 students who are currently studying for their Land and Environment BTEC will be able to use the project towards gaining their certificate.
