Fire Doors are crucial in preventing the spread of fires, providing valuable time for evacuation and firefighting efforts.
Why is a fire door important?
Fire doors are a really important element of our Fire Safety Strategy here at Community Housing. When used correctly, Fire Doors stop fires from spreading through a building, giving people time to escape and the Fire Brigade time to attend and potentially save your home.
At Community Housing, your safety is our primary concern. You may have seen our specialist operatives undertaking regular quarterly inspections to our fire doors in communal areas, as well as annual safety checks to individual flat entrance doors. These inspections are important as they help us to identify any repairs that are required to the doors and allow us to fix them in a timely manner. This helps to ensure that our doors are fully operational and continue to protect you and your family should a fire occur.
What you can do to stay safe:
As part of the Fire Door Safety Week, we are encouraging our customers to remain vigilant around doors within your building. Below shows a simple 5 point check and illustrates the most important things to look out for. If you spot something that you are concerned about, we encourage you to report this to us so that we can take the appropriate action to resolve this.

Please remember your annual Fire Door Safety Check is important. As part of the check, our team will require access to both sides of your front door to check all components are working as they should be. We will reach out to you to arrange an appointment for this check to be carried out, however, if the appointment isn’t suitable, please do let us know.
