UNITY Update

UNITY logo on a bright background

The UNITY team specialises in 'Building Brighter Futures' by supporting people aged 16 and over, who live in Community Housing homes and surrounding neighbourhoods within Wyre Forest, Worcester City and Malvern, with a wide range of services to help them move into sustainable employment or improve their career opportunities.

The project is currently funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Properity Fund. With just 6 months to go under that current contract, we wanted to share the fantastic achievements the team has made so far:

Provided one-to-one support to:

  • 39 participants in Malvern
  • 26 participants in Worcester
  • 56 participants in Wyre Forest – 18 of whom are Community Housing customers.

Of these:

  • 76% have physical or mental health issues
  • 42% have finance/debt issues
  • 31% have housing or homelessness issues.

Results:

  • 26 people have gone into employment – to date, 15 of these have sustained their employment for at least 6 months.
  • 71 have engaged in a job search
  • 22 have engaged in volunteering activities
  • 78 feel that the barriers stopping them entering employment before they started on the programme have been reduced.
