Our latest Gender and Ethnicity Pay Gap report for 2024 highlights both our progress and the challenges we continue to face in achieving pay equity.
The Gender Pay Gap measures the difference in average pay between male and female employees. Our 2024 data shows a mean Gender Pay Gap of 19.7%, a reduction from 20.9% in 2023. This 1.2 percentage point improvement indicates positive strides, although our gap remains higher than the UK-wide average of 7.7% for full-time employees.
Despite this progress, our median Gender Pay Gap remains unchanged at 28.4%, underscoring persistent structural challenges. Women are overrepresented in lower-paid roles and underrepresented in higher-paid trades and senior executive positions.
For the first time, we have published our Ethnicity Pay Gap figures. Our data reveals a mean pay gap of 4.2% for ethnic minorities (excluding white minorities) and -9.4% when including white minorities. These figures compare favourably to the UK-wide ethnicity pay gap of 18.5% in 2023, reflecting our relatively equitable pay structures.
Our Commitment to Change
We are committed to closing our pay gaps through various initiatives, including our Women Doing Well network and Compassionate Leadership Programme, which prioritise female participation and career advancement. Our EDIB Objectives and Action Plan (2025-2027) will further support our efforts to create a diverse and inclusive workforce.
As we continue to address these challenges, we remain focused on attracting and retaining female talent, monitoring our diversity statistics, and providing flexible working arrangements. Our goal is to ensure that all colleagues, regardless of gender or ethnicity, can achieve their full potential at Community Housing.
