We’re proud to share that Community Housing has achieved LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge Pioneer Status, recognising the work we are doing to make our services and communities welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

The award has been given by the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge Advisory Board and is valid until 2028.

Listening to our customers

We signed up to the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge in 2025. Since then, we have been working to make sure LGBTQ+ customers feel safe, respected and able to have their voices heard.

An important part of this has been listening to LGBTQ+ customers about their experiences and using their feedback to help improve our services.

We have also:

• reviewed our policies and the way we make decisions to make sure LGBTQ+ customers’ needs are considered
• provided specialist LGBTQ+ awareness and allyship training for colleagues
• increased LGBTQ+ visibility in our communications and communities
• supported Pride events and activities involving customers.
   

What did the assessment panel say?

The independent assessment panel praised the work taking place across Community Housing and said we had demonstrated “an impressive level of work”.

They particularly recognised the way customers have helped shape our services, our LGBTQ+ training and the visibility of LGBTQ+ inclusion across our organisation and communities.

The panel also highlighted Pride activities involving customers and our work with LGBTQ+ organisation Out2Gether to provide specialist training.

Our work continues

Achieving Pioneer Status is an important milestone, but our work does not stop here.

We will continue to listen to our customers, learn from their experiences and look for ways to improve.

We want Community Housing to be a place where everyone feels safe, respected, welcome and able to be themselves.
