Residents of Adams House, sheltered housing scheme, Kidderminster were thrilled to receive £100 worth of gift vouchers as first prize in the “Window on our World” art competition.

The competition was open to residents of Wyre Forest Sheltered Housing’s 8 sheltered housing schemes who created collages, depicting what it was like to live in sheltered housing.

The art work was displayed in The Community Housing Group’s head quarters and staff and visitors were invited to vote for their favourite piece.

“The standards were extremely high and really show how talented our residents are” said Yvonne Leishman as she presented the first prize to the Adams House residents who will use the gift vouchers to pay for a celebration event in the communal lounge.

All of the pieces of art have been entered in the national EAC Over 60s Art Award run by the Elderly Accommodation Counsel.  Only 100 finalists will be selected from all across the UK and an exhibition of work will take place at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in May 2011 with a £500 first prize award.
