Welfare Reform Advice Bus - How are we helping?

Wyre Forest Community Housing (part of The Community Housing Group) have been taking a mobile service to neighbourhoods and areas across the Wyre Forest to help working age tenants who may be affected by the Government’s Welfare Reform Act.

“A few weeks ago we were visited on the Money Advice Bus by a tenant who admitted that she was unable to cope with the reduction in Housing Benefit due to under occupying her property.

The tenant gave us details about her circumstances and we advised her that she could be eligible for a Support Worker, which would make her exempt from the Government’s Under Occupation Charge (Bedroom Tax).

The lady was assessed by our Support24 team and was eligible to receive a Support Worker. Now she doesn’t have to find any extra money to pay her rent or move home”.
