Louise Casey, Director General of the national Troubled Families programme (centre of picture), visited Worcestershire on Wednesday 12th February to meet housing partners working with Worcestershire County Council to deliver Worcestershire Stronger Families.
Festival Housing, Nexus Housing, The Community Housing Group (TCHG), Rooftop Housing Group and Worcester Community Housing partnered with Core Assets and Vestia Community Trust to bid for the contract in 2013. Vestia established and have been managing the Worcestershire Family Intervention Project in partnership with the five housing Associations since 2008.
Head of Vestia Families, Vestia Community Trust. Mel Bailey, (second from right) commented: “The strength of our bid was the financial and practical support offered by our housing association partners, and our track record of working in partnership with children’s services to support families with multiple needs. The partnership with Core Assets, a locally based company working internationally to support fostering and children's services, added a further dimension to the partnership with training of staff and provision of clinical supervision”.
Director General of Troubled Families, Louise Casey said: "This visit was a great opportunity for me to meet those working hard to deliver the Troubled Families programme in Worcestershire. I was impressed by the determination of those working on the frontline and reassured that Worcestershire County Council remains committed to driving the programme forward and delivering real change for families locally.”
Worcestershire County Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Families, Liz Eyre said: "We are delighted that Louise could take the time to visit Worcestershire and see the progress we are making within our Stronger Families and Early Help programmes. It was a wonderful opportunity to get different services together with Louise to find out about the next phase of the Troubled Families programme, and discuss the best ways for us to work together to improve the support given to families across the county."
