Wyre Forest Community Housing, part of The Community Housing Group, has been converted a Charitable Industrial and Provident Society from 1 April 2014.
The change is part of the Group’s restructure and refinance plan which will allow it to deliver business plans and future projects in the best possible environment.
Ray Brookes, Group Chief Executive explained “We want to ensure that we are providing the best value for money services to our customers and the conversion to a charitable industrial and provident society means that we can operate in the most tax efficient way. This change will allow us to create more affordable homes for people in need and new job and apprenticeship opportunities for local people”
The Group has followed a model adopted by most Housing Associations in the UK.
“We have been very pleased with the smooth transition so far and will continue to include our tenants in discussions about the way we develop and deliver future services” concluded Ray Brookes.
The Group will continue to be regulated by the Homes and Communities Agency and will also be regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority who will make sure that they meet all the qualifying criteria for a charity.
