Worcestershire TeleCare (WTC) recently installed the first “SafeWalking” tracking device to support a Worcestershire County Council client with dementia.
The device has GPS installed and enables the client to retain their independence whilst providing reassurance to their family and carers as they can be easily tracked if they do not reach their expected destination.
The device is also suitable for lone ramblers or walkers who want extra security.
WTC also fitted a special device to an existing alarm system which enabled a client with a severe neurological condition to activate their alarm system with just a minimal movement of their body.
These are important examples of how WTC is developing a bespoke approach to support a wider range of clients to retain their independence.
