Work is starting on an exciting new landmark scheme on the former British Sugar site, Silverwoods, in Kidderminster.
Silverwoods is a 70 acre mixed use site in the Stour Valley and will contain 250 homes, offices, light commercial premises, a hotel, a public house, food and general retail shops. It will also be the locations for the district’s new leisure centre.
Berrington Court and Hampton Mews will provide 112 new homes to the district and offer a new choice for residents when they are considering their existing and future housing requirements.
Phase one, Hampton Mews is due to be completed in November 2015. It will consist of an apartment complex which is specially designed to help adults with learning disabilities to live independently.
Phase two, Berrington Court, will be the main part of the development. It will have 100 self-contained one and two bed apartments for people aged 55 or over and it is anticipated that this will be available for occupation from September 2016.
The £13.8m extra care scheme is being developed in partnership with Wyre Forest Community Housing (part of The Community Housing Group) Wyre Forest District Council and Worcestershire County Council and has received a grant of £3.36m from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), as well as a funding contribution from the District and County Councils.
