Keeping Your Neighbourhood Tidy - Fly Tipping

Keeping your neighbourhood tidy - fly-tipping

Tim Green, Neighbourhood Officer, has been Liaising with Wyre Forest District Council (WFDC), Oakleaf Environment Services and local Councillors to carry out a partnership project to reduce fly-tipping and increase recycling on the Radburn area of the Walshes Estate.

A leaflet entitled “Keeping your neighbourhood tidy” has been developed by staff in Estates Services, explaining the correct way to dispose of household items. It outlines the penalties for fly-tipping and several tenants have already been recharged by TCHG for dumping items and two more recent cases are currently being considered for prosecution by WFDC.

If the initiative is successful, Estate Services and WFDC are keen to use it as a model for other areas that are experiencing similar problems.

To add to this, a one-off ‘Bin Amnesty’ day has been organised in association with the District Council for Friday 4 December. The team will be working with local residents to educate which bin each type of rubbish should go into and help them clear any contaminated bins.
