Oakleaf Commercial Services is celebrating after being presented with two bronze awards at the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) National Site Awards in Manchester this week.

Oakleaf has won a bronze award for the Amblecote Road project in Kidderminster. Previously an old garage site, this was managed by Ian Tonkinson, consisting of 3 houses built for Shared Ownership. The company also seized another bronze for the Broadwaters development, managed by Derek Colley. Previously an old community centre, this was their largest site consisting of 19 properties, which comprises of a mixture of apartments, houses and a 2 bed bungalow available for rent.

These development sites are part of the company’s Garage Development Scheme, which is devised to produce additional housing in areas which are generally former garage sites, whilst also creating work and additional employment within the area.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme’s National Site Awards recognise those sites that have raised the bar for considerate construction and the award winners are selected from the top performing 10%. To win an award, either Bronze, Silver or Gold is an exceptional achievement, and illustrates those sites that have made the greatest contribution towards improving the image of construction.

The scheme follows a five-point Code of Considerate Practice:-

• Care about Appearance
• Respect the Community
• Protect the Environment
• Secure everyone’s Safety
• Value their Workforce

Ed Osborn, Chair of Oakleaf Board, said: “We are delighted to win these awards and to collect two is fantastic. We are advocates of the scheme which not only looks at the measures each site puts into place but how the building work affects the local neighbourhood and public, as well as the workforce and local environment.”

Mike Petter, Chairman, CCS said: “It is our privilege to reward the efforts of all those involved in projects which set the bar in terms of considerate construction. We never fail to be impressed each year by the high levels of innovation and excellence evidenced throughout the industry.

“Each award-winning project serves as a shining example to the industry as to what can be achieved across a range of different sized projects and in all sectors of the industry. My congratulations to all sites that have received a National Site Award.”
