Oakleaf board member, Alistair Black, took part in Sunday’s 26.2 mile London Marathon, completing it in a fantastic 4 hours 16 minutes.
Running it in aid of Cancer Research UK, and being a cancer survivor himself from childhood, he felt that not only would this be a personal challenge but an ideal way of raising money for a very worthwhile cause. Having run several half marathons before, including Malvern, Windsor and Cambridge (photo above), his next challenge had to be the London Marathon.
Alistair said: “It was very much how I anticipated, however the last three miles were tougher than I expected. The atmosphere was fantastic with huge crowds and the great support from my family and from complete strangers that kept me going.”
