The Fire Service undertook a service exercise last night at the Hurcott flats, Kidderminster.
The exercise simulated a substantial flat fire on the 9th floor of Coniston House and retained crews from Stourport, Bewdley and Kidderminster, along with the ‘wholetime’ crew from Kidderminster took part. The exercise was a success and tested the Fire Service High Rise policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation in the event of a ‘for real’ incident.
Following the ‘hot’ debrief on-site, the crews took the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the flat layout, lift motor room and the rest of the building.
Crew Commander, Neil Bennett (Green Watch, Kidderminster), who organised the exercise commented: “Many thanks for allowing us to use Coniston House tonight. It really is fantastic to be able to train on-site at one of our major risks and also ideal to be able to familiarise the crews with the lift motor rooms and winding mechanisms.”
Thank you to all those who assisted in the facilitation of the exercise.
