Proud tenants of Wolverley

On Friday 15 February, we worked closely with some of our tenants from Wolverley to organise a presentation of funds to Wolverley Sebright Primary School. £771.00 was raised during the time that they were all members of The Fairfield TCC (Tenants Consultative Committee).

Joyce Clegg aged 86 and Peter Dunn aged 88, both attended the school when they were children and took the time to share some wonderful memories and historical facts. They explained what it was like to be a child when the Second World War broke out.

Joyce was joined at the front in the assembly by her two great grandchildren, Lexi and Oliver, who are now part of the ‘sixth generation’ of Joyce’s family to have attended the school since the 1800’s. However, the school was rebuilt in 1926 and is now situated on its present site on the Franche Road, Wolverley.

‘Heart Warming’

The school presented Joyce with some beautiful flowers and conveyed their sincere thanks for the money donated to the school from all the former members of The Fairfield TCC and went on to thank the staff of The Community Housing Group for attending and helping to make the children’s assembly such a lovely and memorable experience.

As a surprise, Mrs Reeves-Walters (head) presented Joyce and Peter with the opportunity to look through a beautiful and precious old records book which dates to 1808. This book held the handwritten entries of both Joyce and Peter and their family members up to and including the present day and the school have promised to continue to do this for future generations to come.
