On Thursday 1st December 2011, The Community Housing Group attended a careers convention at Franche Primary School, Kidderminster.
The event was aimed at the Year 6 students, in order to help them focus their studies in preparation for choosing specific subjects at secondary school.
Over 20 other organisations attended the event, including West Mercia Police, West Midlands Safari Park, Kidderminster Harriers Football Club and Thomas Vale Construction.
The large range of organisations gave the pupils a varied insight in to what training and qualifications were needed for particular career paths, and gave them chance to ask lots of questions to the people in those job roles.
A member of Vestia Community Trust and an Apprentice for CHG Property Services were present from The Community Housing Group to explain how they achieved their position in the Company, and what other options are available at a housing association.
Marina Banner, Executive Director Vestia and TCHG Corporate Services said: “It is fantastic that we can support events such as these, and not only meet potential, future colleagues, but help students decide what career path is right for them”.
