Tenants of Wyre Forest Sheltered Housing (part of The Community Housing Group) will enjoy a little Christmas cheer thanks to the generosity of the Group, their partners Wyre Forest District Council and Wyre Forest Local Strategic Partnership and business' including EBC Group, Eco2Solar, Xmbrace, Abimat Cleaning Services, Thomas Vale, Amillan, Louise Hewitt, Baily Garner and J M Phillips (Stourport).
The organisations have raised enough money to provide a £10 supermarket gift voucher for tenants living in sheltered housing homes.
Group Chief Executive, Ray Brookes said “2011 has been a difficult year for many people as the cost of living continues to soar, but incomes have not really increased to match. We know that some of our most vulnerable residents in the district will be making difficult decisions about paying for fuel and food this winter, so we hope this small gesture will help to provide a little enjoyment for Christmas”
Councillor Julian Phillip, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for place-shaping said: “We are delighted to be able to support this great project. It’s an excellent example of how by working with partners we can make a difference. We hope the tenants have an enjoyable festive season and that the vouchers bring them a bit more Christmas cheer.”
Residents living at Arch Hill Court, Kidderminster were surprised by a visit from Ray Brookes who launched the campaign with a gift hamper for the residents to enjoy and presented the oldest resident, Mrs Lammin with a seasonal bouquet.
“What a lovely gesture” said Mrs Lammin “We are delighted with the vouchers, especially when we heard that so many people have given their money to make it happen. It will make a difference to our Christmas”
