NAW Karlee - Facebook

To complete this year’s National Apprenticeship Week, we meet Karlee, one of our female apprentices who is training to be a carpenter.  She has always loved woodwork and wanted to learn and qualify in something she really enjoys.

It might seem daunting to some but to Karlee and many other female trades apprentices across the country, training in a role that is typically seen as being predominantly male isn’t unusual.  Women make up around 14% nationally of construction industry professionals with this only set to rise.

Karlee isn’t Community Housing’s first female apprentice on the trades teams, she joins a list of several female trades apprentices and we are only keen to encourage more.
