It’s #ASBawareness week (July 18-24) and we are holding some local activities where you can come along and talk to us about ASB and let us know of any issues in your area.

What is ASB?

ASB is defined as “Behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to persons not of the same household as the person”.  There are 3 types of ASB:

  • Personal anti-social behaviour – when someone personally targets individuals or groups

  • Nuisance anti-social behaviour – when someone causes trouble, annoyance or unacceptable suffering to a community

  • Environmental anti-social behaviour – when someone's actions affect the wider environment such as public spaces or buildings

ASB is behaviour that is disruptive to you, the people around you or the local community. This can be violence, criminal behaviour, drug or alcohol-related nuisance, vandalism, trespassing, neighbourhood nuisance – eg fly tipping or joyriding, animal nuisance or excessive noise, shouting or swearing.

If you’re struggling with an anti-social neighbour, it can be hard to know what to do, but it’s important to try to get along with your neighbours as much as possible, not least because you’re likely to see or hear them every day.  On occasion, problems can arise with behaviour that might be considered anti-social and this can vary from loud music to vandalism or abuse.

It’s important to feel safe and comfortable at home. If you are having any issues, we’ll try to help you to sort out the problem. Often, that will involve partner organisations like your local council or police.

What we have planned?

We will be carrying out ASB walkabouts with the Police and our Tenancy Enforcement Officers on your estates and we’d love you to join us.
