Wyre Forest Community Housing’s Neighbourhood Wardens have been supporting four students from Kidderminster complete part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is recognised by universities and employers, and gives young people the chance to develop skills for work and life, fulfil their potential and have a brighter future.
From September 2011, the Baxter Business and Enterprise College students have been meeting with the Wardens every Friday to experience community involvement and take part in various activities, including patrols of housing estates and visiting local clubs and groups.
The weekly meetings have enabled the students to get an overview of the work undertaken by the Wardens, and see how the quality of life for local residents can be improved by promoting community safety, tackling anti-social behaviour and reducing the fear of crime.
