During December, Community Housing took part in ’12 Days of Christmas Giving’, collecting items for Wyre Forest Food Bank at Franche Community Church.
Beginning on Monday 5th December, colleagues kindly donated much needed items over a 12 day period, such as nappies, pet food, tinned food and Christmas treats.
As the cost of living crisis deepens, demand on food banks across the UK is increasing and Community Housing, one of Worcestershire’s largest registered providers of social housing, wanted to help out during this extremely difficult time.
Wyre Forest Food Bank works on referrals, many of which come from Community Housing, and even by October 2022, the requests for help were at the same levels they had been at the previous Christmas.
We’re thrilled at the response by our generous colleagues who will make a real difference to families across the Wyre Forest this Christmas.
Alongside the donations from staff, we delivered 35 selection boxes kindly donated by Wilden Cricket Club, plus £1000 as an extra Christmas treat from Community Housing for Wyre Forest Food Bank and Franche Community Church to continue the fantastic job they are doing for the community.
Jenny Keeling, Neighbourhood Coordinator, Community Housing said: “We really wanted to do something meaningful to help struggling families this festive season so collecting items for the Wyre Forest Food Bank was something we could all get involved with. We’re really pleased with the generosity of colleagues at these difficult times, and so happy to be giving the Food Bank an extra £1000 to help them out into the New Year”.
