The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited Worcester on 11th July 2012, as part of Her Majesty's regional tour for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

After opening the Hive, the County Council's new library and history centre, the Royal party moved onto Worcester Guildhall, where a reception and lunch was held with community representatives from across Worcestershire.
 
Ian 'Spike' Betterton, Chair of Friends of St. George's Park was one of the lucky community representatives invited to attend the special reception.

Spike was chosen in recognition of his voluntary work with the 'Friends of' Group. He has successfully led the community group for several years, working closely with Vestia Community Trust (part of The Community Housing Group), Wyre Forest District Council and other partners to make a real difference to the park and the local area.
