Supporting Race Equality Week 2025

We're proud to have participated in Race Equality Week (3rd - 7th February) 2025, uniting thousands of organisations to seriously address race inequality in the workplace.

A UK-wide initiative, Race Equality Week was launched by community interest company Race Equality Matters (REM) to turn words into meaningful action.

It is a movement spurred on by the events of 2020, which have heightened the country’s collective consciousness of the racism, inequality and injustice experienced by ethnically diverse communities. Community Housing joined Race Equality Matters as members in October 2024.

The brand new theme for 2025 is #EveryActionCounts which will bring everyone together to focus on taking action to drive change for good.

  • Only 32% of REM community said their organisation focuses on action and not just words.
  • 64% said ethnically diverse employees are playing a key part in tackling race inequality in their organisation.
  • Only 17% said allies were playing a key part in tackling race inequality in their organisation.

The message is simple: action drives change. Whether big or small, every step taken contributes to a more inclusive workplace.

As part of our participation in Race Equality Week, we encouraged colleagues to take part in the '5-Day Challenge'. Every lunchtime, we spent just 5 minutes over 5 days to question our own assumptions and biases, and were given simple, practical actions we can do to create change.
