A Twilight Football initiative is launching once more in our community, offering young people aged 13 to 16 an exciting opportunity to develop their football skills in a structured and supportive environment. The free 18-week programme will be run by Kidderminster Harriers, starting on Monday 24 February and held at three local high schools:
· Stourport High School: Mondays 4:30 – 5:30pm,
· King Charles High School astro: Tuesdays 5:00 – 6:00pm
· and Baxter College astro: Fridays 5:00 – 6:00pm.
This initiative is designed to provide a fun and professional setting for young footballers of all abilities. Whether they are experienced players or just starting out, everyone is welcome to join in and refine their skills. The sessions focus on skill development, teamwork and match play, ensuring a rewarding experience for all participants with the chance to train alongside a professional football coach. There is no need to book - just simply turn up and take part.
A Community Effort to Make a Difference
The programme is more than just football. It is part of a wider effort to engage young people in positive activities and reduce anti-social behaviour in the community. By offering an enjoyable and structured alternative to loitering or vandalism, the sessions encourage young people to channel their energy into something productive.
In addition to improving football skills, the programme aims to promote positive social interaction. Through teamwork and friendly competition, participants will develop respect, cooperation and discipline - skills that will benefit them both on and off the pitch. The sessions will also help create a greater sense of community pride and belonging, ensuring young people feel valued and included.
Supported by Local Organisations
This fantastic initiative has been made possible through the support of West Mercia Police, Travis Perkins, Community Housing, Wyre Forest District Council (WFDC) and the Kidderminster Steering Committee. Their commitment to creating safe and engaging opportunities for young people has helped bring this programme to life.
By working together, we can create a positive and lasting impact in our community. We encourage all young footballers to come along, enjoy the game and make new friends in a supportive and structured setting.
