National Apprenticeship Week 2026 (#NAW2026) gave Community Housing the opportunity to shine a spotlight on the incredible contribution apprentices make across our organisation.
Throughout the week, colleagues shared inspiring stories, meaningful experiences, and real examples of how apprenticeships create opportunities for people to learn, progress and thrive.
This year’s theme focused on Skills for Life and how apprenticeship programmes create opportunities for people at every stage of their career while helping employers fill vital skills shortages.
One of the week’s features highlighted the many different ways apprenticeships can support long term career journeys. Colleagues from across the organisation shared examples of how structured learning, hands on experience and strong mentoring help individuals grow into confident, skilled professionals. The message was clear. Apprenticeships don’t just fill skills gaps, they build careers.
We also shared the voices of apprentices themselves, who spoke openly about what their journeys have meant to them. Many described feeling supported, encouraged and empowered and highlighted the confidence they’ve gained and the sense of purpose they’ve found. Their reflections reinforced how we strive to make sure we provide a safe, supportive environment where they can learn and grow at their own pace.

Apprentices are helping strengthen our connections with local partners and neighbourhoods. Whether attending community events, supporting outreach activities or gaining experience through real?world projects, our apprentices demonstrated their passion not only for learning, but for making a difference to our customers. They have taken part in community volunteering programmes such as neighbourhood tidy up and litter picks and are always happy to talk to schools at careers events to share their experiences and encourage pupils to consider apprenticeships.

Across the whole week, it was clear that Community Housing is committed to nurturing potential. Apprenticeships are an essential part of our workforce development and an investment in the future not just for our organisation, but for our communities too.
By celebrating achievements, sharing experiences and championing the people at the heart of our apprenticeship programme, #NAW2026 highlighted how proud we are of our apprentices and the colleagues who support them every day.
We’re excited to continue growing our apprenticeship opportunities and helping even more people build skills for life.
